What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is experienced as a dream-like state of deep guided relaxation and focused attention that allows you to adopt ideas more readily. It’s the acceptance of helpful thinking during this state, that helps create long-term change.

During hypnosis sessions, my role is first to help you relax and suspend analytical thinking, then to clearly and thoroughly communicate new ways of thinking through a personalised, tailored program of pre-agreed sessions.

What is hypnotherapy?

Essentially, it’s therapy carried out by a fully trained and accredited expert whilst in hypnosis. Hypnotherapy can be used in many ways and can help people like you make positive changes in their lives.

I’m often asked what hypnotherapy feels like? My answer is that you feel absolutely nothing other than incredibly relaxed, laying on a couch or sitting on a chair. Despite misconceptions, whilst in hypnosis you are fully aware of what is going on around you and at no time do you feel out of control. Hypnotherapy is a pleasant, safe and relaxing experience and works by tapping into the subconscious mind to promote positive change.

It’s important that you recognise the crucial role that you play in your own success, since our working relationship is based on collaboration, more akin to a coaching role than surgeon–patient relationship.
